Applications are invited for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the California State University, Sacramento (CSUS), effective August, 2003. Candidates with a Ph.D. in Physics, Astronomy or a closely related field, with research interests in all areas of astronomy/astrophysics are encouraged to apply. Desirable experience includes postdoctoral research, a track record of involving undergraduates in research, background and skill in teaching undergraduates and demonstrated public outreach activities.
CSUS, located in one of the fastest growing metropolitan regions in California, is a comprehensive university of 27,000 students with excellence in teaching as its primary goal. The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is planning a ?Space Science Center?, consisting of a 120 seat planetarium/lecture hall, a teaching observatory and research spaces for faculty and students.
