The department is committed to excellence in both teaching and research. We offer Bachelor's and Master's degrees and seek candidates enthusiastic about mentoring both undergraduate and masters students. Faculty members with funded research programs typically teach two courses per semester. On-campus facilities include a planetarium, an observatory, computing resources, and mechanical and electronics shops.
Current members of the department have research programs using the observatories at Las Campanas, CFHT, CTIO and KPNO, as well as HST and Chandra.
