The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California at
Irvine invites applications for two faculty positions in astrophysics, one at
the junior and one at the senior level. Excellent candidates in all areas of
observational or theoretical astrophysics are encouraged to apply. The
successful candidates must possess a Ph.D. (or equivalent) and will be expected
to establish a vigorous research program and to participate effectively in
teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department has active
research programs in star formation, galaxy formation and evolution, X-ray
astronomy, wavefront sensing and adaptive optics, and particle astrophysics.
Department faculty have access to the Lick and Keck Observatories. Candidates
should send a complete curriculum vitae, bibliography, statement of research
interests, and arrange to have at least three letters of recommendation
submitted on their behalf to Professor Gary Chanan, Chair of the Astrophysics
Search Committee at the above address.
