Attention: Search Committee, c/o Laszlo Baksay, Head and Professor
The Department of Physics and Space Sciences at Florida Tech invites
applications for an Assistant Professor of Physics and Space Sciences beginning
Fall 2003. A more-senior appointment may be considered for exceptionally
qualified candidates. Florida Tech is a private university located 40 miles
south of the Kennedy Space Center. The Department grants bachelor's, master's,
and Ph.D. degrees in both Physics and Space Sciences. The new faculty member
will be expected to carry out a vigorous, externally-funded research program
including supervising graduate research projects, and to participate fully in
the teaching program in the department. Applications from all fields of
astronomy and astrophysics will be carefully considered, but preference may be
given to a candidate whose research area complements the existing stellar
astronomy and astrophysics research in the department and who in addition have
hardware and instrumentation experience (see http://www.pss.fit.edu/).
Interested applicants should submit a curriculum vitae including a list of
publications, a statement of past accomplishments and future plans in research
and teaching, and the names of three people who are familiar with the
applicant's ability and can be contacted for letters of recommendation, to
Search Committee, c/o Prof. L. Baksay, Head, at the above address. Review of
applications will begin on 15 January 2003 and will continue until the position
is filled. AAE/EOE.
