Homework
I will assign quizzes from the course book website as homework. The homework for a certain Chapter is due at the lecture, when we start the next Chapter (see syllabus). For example, the homework on Chapter 1 is due September 2. Contact me if anything of the below does not work.
 
How to get the course book website and complete a quiz
  • Buy a course book ``The Essential Cosmic Perspective, 2nd Edition'' in the UT bookstore.
  • Go the the book website (see the book first page)
  • Click on the course book name on the webpage (the most right-hand side picture in the lower row of titles)
  • Register with the access code (six 5-letter words in the book first page)
  • Choose your User ID and password
  • Log in with the chosen User ID and password (This will bring you to a webpage with the book materials)
  • Choose an appropriate Chapter in a window at the page top
  • Search for quizzes in the menu on the left-hand side of the page
  • Click on the quizzes link (This will bring you to the quiz webpage)
  • Answer all the quiz questions and click ``Submit my Answers for Grading'' button
  • If you are not satisfied with the results, click the quizzes link again, and repeat the quiz. Do this as many times as you want.
  • When you are satisfied with the quiz results, type your First and Last name in a window on the bottom of the quiz results page, and send it to the course email address - astr1010@yahoo.com - by the time of the next lecture
